WHAT’S HAPPENING AT SMC . . .

Vacation Bible School starts tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.  We would like    staff there a little early to prepare and to help direct the children to their areas.

Our mission project will be The Haven of Rest in Akron.  The children will make teddy bears for the children staying at the mission, and our offering will be supporting their ministry.

Our VBS program will be Friday night at 8:30. An ice

Ice cream sundae bar will be held in the social hall following the program.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Please continue to pray for the safety for the children, strength and energy for the staff, and for nice weather.

There will be no family fun night in July.  Family Farm Fun Night will be August 11 at Ron and Barb Steiner’s.  The evening begins with a meal at 5:00 p.m.

There will be an open house celebration for Ralph and Lila Smucker in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, August 18, from 4-7 p.m., here at Smithville Mennonite Church.

Church Secretary Hired:  Rhonda Mease has been hired as our full-time church secretary.  She will be working every morning, Monday through Friday, after school begins.  At the present time during the summer months, she is working only Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Thank you for your support and affirmation of Rhonda.

The 42nd Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale will be held August 3 & 4 at Central Christian School.  Items donated by those in our church will be on display and available for purchase July 29. If you have items to display, please mark them with your desired purchase price and bring them to the sewing room behind the kitchen before that Sunday.  Contact Ruth Snyder with any questions.

People to People Ministries’ Back to School Project is taking place August 5-9 at the Wooster Church of the Nazarene, 1741 Oak Hill Road, Wooster.  Their goal is to provide eligible families with socks, underwear, shoes and school supplies.  If you would like to help, see Mary Naumoff.
