WHAT’S HAPPENING AT SMC . . .

During the Sundays of Advent, the Worship Committee is requesting that there be no verbal announcements made during the morning worship service.

We have the opportunity again this year to bring toys to place under the Christmas tree at the front of the sanctuary. Gifts can be wrapped or unwrapped, but please mark any wrapped gifts with appropriate age and gender. The toys will be donated to the Salvation Army.

The song of the month is Hymn # 346, Dona Nobis Pacem.  It is an old Christmas round written by an unknown German composer of the 16th or 17th century. The message of the song is Grant unto us peace.  As we learn and sing this song over this Advent season, may we experience the peace of Christmas.

Youth and mentors, remember to come to the meeting this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the church.  We will be having a Christmas celebration.

Remember to get your tickets soon for the Ted & Company production,  Dove Tale, next Sunday evening at Central Christian School.  Call the school office at 330-857-7311 for more information or to get tickets.

The 73rd rendition of Handel’s Messiah will be Sunday, December 16 at 2:30 P.M. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, with Bill Mateer conducting. Help us make a joyful noise and come join the chorus (and bring a friend!).  Chorus rehearsals will be Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 at 7:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.  Come worship with us and celebrate God’s master plan for the world, as expressed in this wonderful oratorio.

On the evenings of December 14 and 15, a limited number of people will have a chance to step back 500 years in history and mingle with dukes, princes, and knights and Central’s Varsity Singers in their annual Christmas Madrigal Feast.  An evening of festivity, food, music, noble speeches, and laughter will be a part of this event which is fast becoming an expected tradition.  Appetizers will be served at 6:30 each evening.  Tickets cost $2Contact Kristen Hilty at the school to make reservations: 330-857-7311 or khilty@ccscomets.org.
