WHAT’S HAPPENING AT SMC. ..

 

We extend our sympathy to Rich and Velma Shetler, and their extended family on the death of Greg Boney. Greg passed away December 10 at his Mother’s home in Warren. A memorial service will be held this evening at 6:00 p.m.

 

Our sympathy also goes out to the family of Merl Smucker. Merl passed away Tuesday morning, December 11. Calling hours will be here at SMC, Wednesday evening, December 19, from 6-9 p.m., and Thursday morning from 10-11 a.m. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m.

During the Sundays of Advent, the Worship Committee is requesting that there be no verbal announcements made during the morning worship service.

The Flower Committee would appreciate donations of flowers, especially during the winter months. If you would like to honor someone’s  birthday or anniversary in this way, please contact the flower committee and/or Rhonda Mease.

Bible Quizzing – Any youth, 6th grade through age 21 years of age, who would enjoy learning more about the Bible, are invited to join our Bible quiz team.  We will study and quiz against other church groups over Acts 10-28, from January 6 to March 16, every Sunday afternoon from 3-5 pm.  If you are interested, please contact Rebecca Martin.

Hesston College has a special financial offer for new students for the upcoming Spring Term that begins Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Mennonite Church USA church members are encouraged to think about prospective students who might consider attending Hesston College.  Hesston College is the two-year liberal arts college of Mennonite Church USA.  Learn more at www.hesston.edu.

A musical festival will be held at Central Christian School on December 27 at 7:00.  Alumni musicians and vocalists will be sharing their talents in the Performing Arts Center.  Admission is free and everyone is welcome!

In Our Prayers . . .

·         Pray for wisdom and strength for Pastor Todd, as he ministers to those who are grieving, sad, and lonely, this week.

·          Pray for the family of Merl Smucker, and the family of Greg Boney as they mourn the loss of a loved one.
