WHAT’S HAPPENING AT SMC . . .

Glenn Martin, our guest speaker today, is a graduate of York Bible College in PA. He has pastored three churches in Ohio, and is presently retired and living near Apple Creek with his wife Carolyn. Glenn serves on the board of directors of Hospice and Palliative Care of Wayne County.

 

Thank you to everyone for your prayers, visits, cards, gifts, and calls, following my surgery. Thanks to the church for the flowers. God bless you for being so supportive. –Sanford Oyer

 

Church Cookbook update:  Ladies & Men: Please keep the recipes coming in!  We have approximately 200 great recipes submitted so far, with a goal of 500. All categories are needed. See the table in the hall. Thank you!

 

Mennonite Women will have a quilting & knotting day, Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Bring a sack lunch.  There will be no business meeting.

 

The Mongolia Breakfast will be this Saturday at Berlin Mennonite Church. The pastors from the supporting churches will be preparing and serving this all-you-can-eat meal of pancakes, sausage, ham, and eggs.  All donations will go to support the missions in Mongolia.

 

SCRAPBOOKING!!  This Friday, Feb. 22, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. in the church social room.  It’s time to gather again and work on our projects.  Come join the fun and fellowship while we learn from each other.  Bring friends!  Any questions, ask Kathy Gerber or Barb Steiner.

 

The Seeker’s Class Eat-out has been changed to Tuesday, February 26, at 6:30, at Das Dutch Kitchen.

 

.An  Explorer’s Class Eat-out has been scheduled for March 1, at The Hartville Kitchen, at 6 p.m. If you have any questions, or to RSVP, contact Chris Miller.

 

The church has received a letter from Carrie (Kalina) Villacres requesting our financial and prayer support. She has received an opportunity to work with Kidz@Heart International, training and developing new teaching styles for teachers in Cariari, Costa Rica. The letter is posted on the “Missions” bulletin board in the hallway

 

Bluffton University Camerata Singers will be at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church on Sunday, March 2, for a 6:30 p.m. concert.

 

How wonderful it is when Christians work together and meet a goal —like canning meat for Relief!  The annual business meeting of Relief Canning will be held at Martins Mennonite Church on Tuesday, Feb 26, at 7:00 p.m. Elvin Mast will tell of his MCC trip and an offering will be taken.  Bring a friend!

 

Men of God:  The 2008 Men’s Retreat at Camp Luz is coming up on April 4-6, 2008.  Henry Beun, Head Administrator at Central Christian School, will be the speaker.  Come with us as we “Journey With Jacob”.  More information is available online at www.campluz.com.

 

BIBLE MEMORY will  hold  its 15th annual BENEFIT AUCTION at the Mt. Hope Sale Barn  on Friday,  March 14, 2008 at 5:30 p.m.  To donate  items  and for  more  information call Glenn Coblentz, at 330-359-5155.

 

Sharing With Appalachian People (SWAP), a program of MCC Great Lakes, seeks a Location Coordinator for its Harlan, Kentucky site.  Ideally suited for a married couple, this  position coordinates volunteer groups and oversees home repair for  low-income families.  A job description is available at www.mcc.org/serve/assignments or
