WHAT’S HAPPENING AT SMC . . .

 

You may still order Easter lilies for next Sunday. There are forms at the end of your bench this morning. These may be placed in the secretary’s mailbox today, along with your payment.

 

Maundy Thursday meal and Communion this Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

Soup and drink will be provided.

            A – L bring a plate of fresh fruit

            M – R bring relishes

            S – Z bring a bread (rolls, bread, quick bread, muffins, etc.

Also bring your favorite soup bowl and spoon.

 

Recipes are still being accepted for the Friendship Circle Cookbook:  Ladies and men, you may continue to submit recipes.  Please put these in Louise Hershberger’s church mailbox.

 

The MYF is continuing to collect & recycle used items as a fundraiser as well as to help keep these items out of landfills.  In addition to the cell phones & printer/toner cartridges that we were already collecting, you can also donate major motion picture DVDs, video games, MP3 players, digital camera’s as well as digital video cameras, digital picture frames & portable DBD players.  We are paid for each of these items, even if they are not working.  Please place items in the big colorful box in the youth room.  Thanks for helping!

 

Our group subscription plan to The Mennonite is renewing.  If you are interested in joining our group plan, or to continue your subscription, please contact Rhonda by April 13, or simply fill out the sheet in your mailbox and place it in the secretary’s mailbox. Cost will be $33 - $37, determined by number of subscriptions.

 

The trustees have needed to raise the price of cemetery plots.  Beginning June 1, 2008, the cost of a plot will be $250 for members, and $1000 for nonmembers.

 

Chestnut Ridge Mennonite Church is inviting married couples to their Lasting Flame Marriage Seminar April 25-26. Early registration of $100 includes a seminar packet, snacks, and lunch.  For more information, call Dan & Sherri Swartz at 330-621-1826.

 

A Believers in Conversation Conference with Ron Sider is being hosted by Central Christian School, April 18 – 20. This is and educational and theological opportunity for Anabaptist and other Evangelical Christians to gather for transformational conversations which encourage, enable and empower believers in Christ Jesus to be salt and light.  See the bulletin board for more information and a registration form.

In Our Prayers . . .

·         Continue praying for Pastor Todd, that he would be effective in preaching the Word.

·         Pray for our SMC friends and family, Mabel Hartman and May Smucker.

·         Pray for Al Miller, hospitalized in Arizona with breathing difficulties,

·         Pray for Lewy Ebersole, who is scheduled for brain surgery next week.

·         Pray for those in our community who do not know Jesus, that they will hear and understand the true message of Easter this season.

  • Sam and Deb Smucker will be returning to the states on furlough this spring. They ask that we pray for God to provide a vehicle for them, as well as housing while they are in Ohio and Tennessee.
