Smithville Mennonite Church

June 8, 2008 - 10:30 a.m.

How far did you have to walk for water this morning?  Was it clean and drinkable?  Are you willing to share some with the multiplied millions of people who have little or none?

What’s Happening at SMC…

Congratulations to Elliot Martin and Josiah Ramseyer on completing all of their Bible Memory verses.

Mongolia Trip Update:  Please join us in prayer for our missions trip the next two Sunday mornings at 8:30 in the library.  On June 14, at 6:00 p.m., our team of men will meet for pizza with the group from Walnut Creek to get to know each other and finalize plans.  Then at 7:30, everyone is invited to the church to watch the film The Weeping Camel. This is an interesting documentary on nomadic life in Mongolia.

Smithville and Orrville Mennonite Churches have combined again this year to form a softball team to play in the Orrville Church Softball League.  Our players are Terry Hershberger, Joel Mast, Nate Mast, Jason Miller, Tony Neuenschwander, Ben Rohrer, and Brandon Rutt.  All games are played at the main diamond at Orr Park.  See the schedule on the bulletin board or watch the bulletin for game dates.

Name tags are still available!  Cost is $3.00.  Your first name will be placed above the line, and two lines with up to 16 characters each (including spaces) can be placed below the center line.  This can be your last name, a short verse, or any other short inspirational message.  See Rhonda or Todd.

There are a number of copies of Mennonite Mission Network’s 2007-2008 Annual Reports on the literature table. Help yourself if you are interested in reviewing this.

Mennonite Central Committee is accepting financial contributions to help people affected by the May 12 earthquake in central China.  MCC will use the funds to provide aid to earthquake survivors through one or more Chinese partner organizations. Contributions should be designated “China emergency assistance” and may be made online at mcc.org/donate or at any MCC office.

The annual Black Swamp Bazaar, benefiting Sunshine Children’s Home and Mennonite Central Committee is being held at the Fulton County Fairgrounds, Wauseon, OH, on June 20 and 21.  Log on to their website at www.blackswampbenefit.org for more information.

Transport for Christ is holding its 17th Annual Truck Show/Benefit Auction June 27 & 28 at Central Christian School.  Friday night is the Parade of Lights beginning at 5:30 pm at the Kidron Auction.  Saturday includes activities for the kids, 11 a.m. truck parade, 11:30 Gerber’s Chicken BBQ, and the auction at 1 p.m.  You can find a list of auction items by going to www.auctionzip.com, and entering 6233 in the auctioneer ID# box in the upper right hand corner.
